"HARLEY" Cover Art
for Orrin's 2020 single "HARLEY"

Background
Orrin is a rapper with 100k monthly listeners. Stylistically, he is recognizable for his gender-fluid and futuristic influences on his fashion-forward image. He also had a viral feature on #1 talkshow Dr. Phil with 20m Youtube views as a "cyborg from the year 2050." He has been featured in publications like Noisey, I-D, Lyrical Lemonade, and more.
I was commissioned to design the cover art for Orrin's 2020 single "HARLEY"
TIME: 1 month
TOOLS: Procreate
SKILLS: Illustration
Design Process
Given Orrin's heavy use of cyborg and futuristic imagery leading up to this single release, his fans were expecting a simple continuation of the same. However, "HARLEY" is a drastic genre shift and therefore I wanted to create an imagery that reflected that. I illustrated all components of the cover, with oil and paint type brush options to mimic a grainy photograph that has been preserved for decades.
I chose to set the UFO abduction against a desolate, middle-America backdrop to convey a feeling of mystery and wonder. This also center the viewer's attention on the iconic red General Motors truck (and branded scribblings) that acts a symbol for both the song and the music video.
